Hemlock Bluff

$600.00

20" x 20" x 1.5" Spray paint and oil on canvas. Inspired by my favourite trail at Algonquin Provincial Park, Hemlock Bluff. A trail that you can smell and feel the serenity and beauty of nature the second you embark on it. That is the feeling I have with this piece. Hemlock cones are tiny little wonders, they are one of the smallest of the evergreen cones, which is what makes them so special. This painting, with a pop of colour on what is actually tiny little needles, explores the detail and wonder of these cones and how they represent and relate to the Canadian landscape and forest. The cone, in all its monochromatic glory has been pushed to the forefront by this colour pop. Foraged hemlock branches are spray painted in the background while the cone is done in oil in the foreground.
